Take shorter showers or a Bath: The average 5-minute shower can use up to 25 gallons of water, which is much less than the 75 to 100 gallons of a long shower. Simply streamlining in the shower can shave off gallons wasted and extra expenses.

Install a low-flow and high pressure showerheads: In addition to shorter showers, a low-flow showerhead can also reduce water use. A low-flow showerhead uses about 2.25 gallons of water per minute (GPM) as opposed to 6 GPM from old showerheads.

Change all faucets to water conservation options: Many faucet retailers offer lower-flow faucets for sinks. By switching out older faucets, you have the potential to save up to 550 gallons of water each year without compromising performance.

Use the Energy Efficient Dishwasher:An energy-efficient dishwasher can use less water than washing dishes by hand. This is provided the dishwasher is properly filled and you use the right setting for the load.

Switch to an Energy Efficient washing machine: These appliances can use better than 50 percent less water than others and save thousands on water consumption.

Replace toilets with low-flow models: Don't flush money down the toilet unnecessarily. Lower-flow toilets get the job done and can save a family of four about 16,000 gallons of water each year. Get 1.6 GPM toilets.

Check for water leaks: Drips in and around the house add up to wasted water and money. Make sure you promptly repair any water leaks from showers, faucets or hire a plumber to do so.

Check for Irrigation System Timing: Make sure the timing for your irrigation system is set proper. The sprinkler system should not turn on more often once a day is a very good practice. Make sure to have the rain sensors installed as you can save annual 1000 Gal of water just due to rain sensors and a significant amount in your water bill.
